The SESAC Latina Music Awards honored leading Latin music songwriters and publishers on Wednesday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
For the second year in a row, Lenny Tavárez was named Pop/Latin Rhythm Songwriter of the Year. Tavárez is known for writing reggaeton and Spanish-language trap hits for artists such as Sech, Maluma, and Paulo Londra. His award-winning songs include “Piscina,” “Tu Feo,” and “La Ranger.”
The award for Pop/Latin Rhythm Song of the Year went to “Bellakeo,” performed by Peso Pluma and Anitta. The track was written by Ángel Sandoval and published by Rolitas Exóticas Publishing.
Sony Music Publishing took home the title of Publisher of the Year after securing 14 award-winning songs across multiple categories.
Celeste Zendejas, senior vice president of SESAC Latina, and Scott Jungmichel, president and COO of SESAC Performing Rights, presented the awards. They were joined by Sam Kling, chief creative officer of SESAC Performing Rights, and Ana Rocha, director of creative services.
“Celebrating the vibrant spirit of the Latin music community is a long-standing tradition at SESAC,” said Jungmichel. “We are proud to honor the incredible talent of these songwriters, producers, publishers, and artists. Their music entertains, tells stories, and brings people together around the world.”
Zendejas added, “For more than 30 years, we’ve celebrated the creativity and dedication behind the music that moves us. I’m proud of our songwriters and publishers for making this another outstanding year.”
