Miley Cyrus has opened up about an unexpected health scare that landed her in the ICU after filming her latest music video on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the three-time Grammy winner said she filmed the video for her upcoming track “Walk of Fame” in October. But by Thanksgiving, she was hospitalized with a serious infection.
“I was put in the ICU for a moment,” Cyrus said. “There were a lot of people in the ER—people choking on turkey legs or whatever. And my leg began to disintegrate in some way around the kneecap area.”
Doctors were baffled by the infection until Cyrus recalled rolling around on the famous sidewalk during the shoot. “The doctor goes, ‘Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?’” she said. “And I just saw myself on the Walk of Fame.”
She added that when a surgeon examined the wound, even they were grossed out. “They open up cadavers and look inside human guts, and they were looking at me, telling me I’m disgusting,” Cyrus said with a laugh.
The song is part of her upcoming ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, which also inspired a film of the same name. The project, which Cyrus co-wrote and co-directed with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, will premiere in June at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Something Beautiful is described as a pop opera featuring 13 original songs from the album. Cyrus also serves as a producer alongside Panos Cosmatos, Nick Spicer, Nate Bolotin, and Aram Tertzakian.
