Alex Warren has emerged as 2025’s surprise pop star with his emotional ballad Ordinary, which has climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Known for his start on TikTok and as a co-founder of the Hype House, Warren’s deeply personal and spiritual track has stood out in a chart filled with superstar collaborations.
“I wouldn’t have any of this without my fans,” Warren said from his Los Angeles home. The 24-year-old’s rise hasn’t been easy. After losing his father at 9 and being kicked out by his alcoholic mother at 18, Warren was briefly homeless before turning to music and content creation as an escape.
He gained online fame through platforms like Vine, YouTube, and TikTok, eventually signing with Atlantic Records in 2022 and releasing his debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1) in 2024. His breakout hit Ordinary dropped in February after a viral live performance on Love Is Blind and quickly resonated with fans.
The song, co-written with Aaron Yaron, Cal Shapiro, and Mags Duval, blends themes of love and spiritual connection. “I grew up Christian and gospel music influenced me,” Warren shared. “Even through the pain, I’ve found purpose and faith.”
Warren’s first Hot 100 single, Burning Down, featured a remix with Joe Jonas. More recently, Ed Sheeran surprised Coachella attendees by performing Ordinary with Warren, later calling it “the one song this year that blew my socks off.”
Looking ahead, Warren is continuing his Cheaper Than Therapy tour and teasing new music, including a duet with Jelly Roll called Bloodline. “We’ve got a lot in the works,” he says, as he builds toward a “Chapter 2” follow-up project.
From TikTok stardom to the pop charts, Alex Warren is proving he’s far more than ordinary.
