Actor NTR Jr is riding a wave of excitement following the explosive online response to the teaser of War 2, the latest installment in Yash Raj Films’ spy universe. The teaser, which features NTR Jr in a high-stakes face-off with Hrithik Roshan, has quickly gone viral, amassing over 30 million views on X and 3 million on Instagram.
“It is truly a blessing to be an actor,” NTR Jr said in a statement. “You get to experience so much unconditional love from people. I feel lucky to receive this kind of positivity and support for War 2.”
The film also stars Kiara Advani in her debut appearance in the franchise. Directed by Ayan Mukerji—known for his work on Brahmastra—War 2 marks his first time directing a spy thriller.
“This character is extremely special to me,” said NTR Jr. “When you pour your emotion, intensity, and energy into a role, it’s thrilling to see fans respond so strongly. It’s a moment of pride for any actor.”
War 2 continues the ever-expanding YRF spy universe, which began with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. That series launched with Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and continued with Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). It was followed by War (2019), Pathaan (2023), and Tiger 3 (2023). Upcoming entries include Alpha, the first female-led film in the franchise starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, and the highly anticipated Tiger vs Pathaan, bringing together Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
In this interconnected universe, Khan plays RAW agent Avinash “Tiger” Rathore, while Kaif portrays Zoya, an ISI operative. Roshan stars as rogue RAW agent Kabir Dhaliwal, while Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is another former RAW operative. Several characters cross over between films, building a complex spy saga that spans nations and agencies.
War 2 is scheduled for global theatrical release on August 14, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
“The YRF spy universe has always set new standards at the box office and in storytelling,” said NTR Jr. “I’m thrilled to be part of this legacy. I can’t wait for audiences to witness the action and drama unfold on the big screen this Independence Day weekend.”
