Miley Cyrus has released the official trailer for her new visual album, Something Beautiful, a project she calls her “dream come true.”
Billed as a “one-of-a-kind cinematic experience,” the film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6. Following the premiere, it will be shown in select theaters across North America for one night only on June 12. International audiences will get a chance to see it starting June 27 through Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision.
Produced by Cyrus alongside XYZ Films and director Panos Cosmatos (Mandy, Beyond the Black Rainbow), the project was developed in partnership with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation. Cyrus co-directed the film with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, while acclaimed cinematographer Benoît Debie handled the visuals.
In a statement, Cyrus described Something Beautiful as a fusion of fashion, film, and music. “My co-creators are all geniuses in their own right,” she said. She praised contributors such as sound engineers Shawn Everett and Alan Meyerson, as well as producer Panos Cosmatos, for helping bring her vision to life.
The visual album aligns with the release of her latest studio album, also titled Something Beautiful, which drops May 30 via Columbia Records. The album features 13 new songs and guest appearances from supermodel Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes.
Described as a “pop opera fueled by fantasy,” the film showcases all 13 tracks in a narrative style. Cyrus previously told Harper’s Bazaar that her concept was inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall, but with a “more glamorous” and fashion-forward spin. “It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music,” she said.
