Lady Gaga has added a Sports Emmy to her growing list of accolades, winning for outstanding music direction for her Super Bowl performance of “Hold My Hand.” The award puts the singer and actress one step closer to achieving EGOT status, having already won an Oscar and multiple Grammy Awards. She now needs only a Tony to complete the elite quartet.
Gaga’s emotional performance took place on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and served as a tribute to the victims of a tragic New Year’s attack that claimed 14 lives. Seated at a piano and accompanied by a full band and choir, Gaga delivered a moving rendition of the Top Gun: Maverick anthem. First responders and law enforcement officers were given front-row seats, with notable appearances by Tom Brady and Michael Strahan during the televised segment.
She triumphed over a strong field of nominees, including Evolution of the Black Quarterback, The Lionheart, Noche UFC: For Mexico, For All Time, and The Turnaround.
The performance was produced by Seth Dudowsky, Bill Richards, Joel Santos, Jesse Weiss, and Brad Zager, with Joe Nargi serving as music editor. “Hold My Hand,” which plays during the emotional finale of Top Gun: Maverick, was previously nominated for both a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
Gaga recently wrapped two sold-out shows in Singapore as part of her Mayhem Ball Tour. The U.S. leg begins in July. She is also set to appear at Netflix’s Tudum 2025: The Live Event and will make a cameo in Wednesday Season 2, which premieres in two parts this August and September.
