Morrison Hotel Gallery has announced a new partnership with the legendary Abbey Road Studios for the 2025 edition of the Music Photography Awards (MPA). To mark the launch, a special exhibition will be held in New York, previewing the awards and honoring two iconic photographers.
The exhibit will run from May 28 to June 3 at Morrison Hotel Gallery’s SoHo location and will feature work by Henry Diltz and Jill Furmanovsky, both recipients of the MPA Icon Award. An exclusive opening reception is scheduled for May 29.
Henry Diltz, whose work helped define rock imagery in the 1960s and beyond, is known for photographing over 250 album covers. His iconic images include the cover of The Doors’ Morrison Hotel, as well as portraits of music legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Joni Mitchell.
Jill Furmanovsky, celebrated for capturing the rise of punk, ska, new wave, and Britpop, has had a long-standing relationship with Oasis. Her contributions to the exhibit will include rare photos of the band from their 1995 Slane Castle performance and studio sessions at Abbey Road.
The collection will also feature contemporary talent, including Christaan Felber, known for his portraits of Mac Miller, and Sacha Lecca, Rolling Stone’s Deputy Photo Editor, whose image of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong is part of the display.
Now in its third year, the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards highlight the art and impact of music photography. The awards aim to celebrate the photographers whose work connects fans to the artists they love and captures the essence of music culture across generations.
This partnership between Morrison Hotel Gallery and Abbey Road Studios brings together historic and contemporary perspectives, celebrating the photographers who have helped shape the visual identity of music around the world.
