Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae have soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their emotional duet What I Want. The track, a pop ballad about a turbulent love story, marks Wallen’s fourth No. 1 single and McRae’s first.
The song appears on Wallen’s new album I’m The Problem, which also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The 37-track set had a massive debut, earning 493,000 equivalent album units — the biggest of 2025 so far, according to Luminate. The album’s opening outpaced The Weeknd’s January release, which debuted with 490,000 units.
What I Want racked up 31.2 million official streams in its debut week. The album also dominated the Hot 100, with “Just in Case” at No. 2 and the title track I’m The Problem at No. 3.
On streaming platforms, I’m The Problem delivered 462.6 million official on-demand streams in its first week, the biggest streaming week of 2025 to date, and second only to Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, which had 891 million in its debut week last year.
Wallen’s strong showing continues beyond his latest release. His previous albums One Thing at a Time (2023) and Dangerous: The Double Album (2021) still chart, landing at No. 4 and No. 12 respectively. He also sold 133,000 physical copies of I’m The Problem, marking the biggest sales week for any country album this year and the fourth largest overall in 2025.
Tate McRae’s No. 1 with What I Want follows her recent success. Her album So Close to What topped the Billboard 200 in March, making her the first artist this year to top both the singles and albums chart for the first time.
The only other debut in the top 10 this week is BTS member Jin’s solo project Echo, entering at No. 3 with 43,000 units, including 35,000 in album sales. This marks Jin’s highest chart position to date.
