Platinum-selling rapper Fivio Foreign has pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats in a plea deal that will see several weapons charges dropped, according to his attorney.
Fivio Foreign, whose real name is Maxie Lee Ryles III, entered the plea in connection with a New Year’s Day incident in Edgewater, New Jersey. He has been in custody since the arrest.
His attorney, Adam Lustberg, confirmed that Foreign pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree terroristic threats. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop four more serious charges, including aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm. As part of the agreement, the state will seek probation rather than jail time at sentencing.
Although sentencing is officially set for August 2, Lustberg noted that the judge is open to moving the date forward if all parties are ready. “This was a very fair resolution in light of the facts and circumstances of this case,” a spokesperson for Foreign’s legal team said.
According to a March report by TMZ, the incident involved Foreign allegedly pointing a firearm at a woman who asked him for help jumpstarting her car. The woman claimed that he told her, “If I see you parked in front of this building again there is going to be a fucking problem.”
Despite his incarceration, Fivio Foreign has remained active in the music scene. He released new singles in collaboration with Plaqueboymax and Caldwell, reportedly recorded before his arrest.
The Brooklyn rapper first gained national attention in 2019 with his breakout single “Big Drip.” He has since collaborated with major artists such as Quavo, Drake, and Lil Baby, building a prominent presence in the hip-hop industry.
