Aura Entertainment has picked up U.S. distribution rights to the action comedy Code 3, produced by Wayfarer Studios and starring Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery, and Aimee Carrero. The film will hit theaters on September 12.
Directed by Christopher Leone (Parallels), Code 3 follows a burnt-out paramedic on his final 24-hour shift as he trains his replacement — only for the night to spiral into chaos. Described as a blend of heart, humor, and high-stakes action, the film also features Rob Riggle and Yvette Nicole Brown. The screenplay was co-written by Leone and former paramedic Patrick Pianezza.
The acquisition adds to Aura Entertainment’s expanding slate, which now includes 15 films, with seven scheduled for release in 2025. Among them is Trap House, starring Dave Bautista, set to premiere on November 14.
“A hilarious, feel-good ride anchored by two of the most beloved names in comedy,” said Aura CEO Marc Goldberg. “Code 3 fits perfectly with our vision of elevated, genre-bending films that connect with audiences.”
Wayfarer Studios’ president of production Andrew Calof praised the partnership, calling Aura’s approach “innovative” and “aligned with our vision.”
The film is produced by Matt Smith (Electro Corduroy Entertainment), Lawrence Mattis (Circle of Confusion), Justin Baldoni and Calof (Wayfarer Studios), and Paul “Pizza” Pianezza (Realdream). Executive producers include Steve Sarowitz and Angela Cardon (Wayfarer), Wilson and Howery, and Michael D. Jones (Silver Heart Productions). Megan Herring co-produced for Circle of Confusion.
