Madonna is set to officially release Veronica Electronica, a long-rumored remix album featuring rare and previously unreleased tracks from her iconic 1998 album Ray of Light. The album will arrive on July 25 in digital formats and as a limited-edition silver vinyl as part of her Silver Collection reissue series.
The release is part of Madonna’s 2021 partnership with Warner Music, which brought her full catalog back to the label that launched her career. Fans can already stream “Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit),” the first track from the album.
Originally planned as a remix companion to Ray of Light, Veronica Electronica was shelved in 1998 amid the album’s massive success. Ray of Light went on to sell over 16 million copies worldwide and earned Madonna four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Album.
The remix album features re-edited versions of club mixes by notable producers such as BT, Sasha, William Orbit, Peter Rauhofer, and Victor Calderone. It also includes the previously unreleased demo “Gone, Gone, Gone,” produced by Madonna and Rick Nowels.
The title Veronica Electronica nods to the short-lived “electronica” genre of the late 1990s, popularized by acts like Moby, Prodigy, and Daft Punk. Madonna’s own Ray of Light drew heavily from the sound, blending spiritual themes with futuristic production.
