A documentary focusing on the rise of Noah Kahan, the singer-songwriter behind Stick Season, is being developed by Live Nation Productions, Federal Films, Polygram Entertainment, and RadicalMedia.
The untitled film traces Kahan’s journey from his early albums Busyhead and I Was / I Am to becoming a headline act at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and Fenway Park. Along the way, the documentary delves into the Vermont native’s struggles with mental health, offering an intimate look at the challenges he faced while navigating fame.
Directed by Nick Sweeney, the documentary is produced by Ryan Kroft, Vaughn Trudeau, and Anna Keegan for Live Nation Productions; Jeff Ludwig and Devon Libran for Federal Films; David Blackman for Polygram Entertainment; and Samantha Mustari, Dave Sirulnick, and Stacey Reiss for RadicalMedia.
Sweeney is known for his work on the 2022 documentary Santa Camp (HBO Max), which explored diversity in the portrayal of Santa Claus, and the 2020 film AKA Jane Roe.
Live Nation Productions, a division of the concert promotion powerhouse, has been behind other high-profile documentaries like The French Montana Story: For Khadija and The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow. Upcoming projects from the company include documentaries about Billy Idol, Becky G, and Ty Dolla $ign, along with the scripted feature K-Pops from Anderson .Paak.
The documentary’s executive producers include Michael Rapino, Jessica James Batista, Michael Yerke, and Alex Maxwell for Live Nation Productions; Drew Simmons and Ryan Langlois for Foundations; Ben Adelson and Alex Coslov for Mercury Records; Monte Lipman and Jeffrey Remedios for Federal Films; and Jon Kamen for RadicalMedia. Asher Brown and Henry Allison are credited as co-producers.
The film has been completed and is currently being shopped for distribution by CAA.
