Micky Dolenz, the last surviving member of the iconic 1960s pop group The Monkees, has made a heartfelt appeal to fans to support a cause close to him: the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Now 80, Dolenz took to Instagram and Facebook to promote his official merchandise store at MickyDolenz.com, encouraging fans to purchase items ranging from music and T-shirts to signed drum heads. A portion of each sale goes directly to Make-A-Wish.
“If you’ve been looking for a way to show your support (or just want a cool shirt or two), check out the official merch store,” Dolenz wrote. “Here’s the best part: a portion of every purchase goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a cause that’s near and dear to my heart.”
The post included a photo of a young Dolenz with children, holding a thank-you card from Make-A-Wish that reads: “You continue to help wish kids replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope.”
Fans responded with admiration and gratitude, flooding the comments with praise. One wrote, “Micky, you’re absolutely positively the best artist ever.” Another added, “You’re so amazing, Micky!”
In addition to merchandise, Dolenz also offers personalized video messages through Cameo, further connecting with fans while supporting charitable efforts.
Dolenz rose to fame with The Monkees, a band formed in 1966 for a television series that quickly became a global music sensation. The group’s hits include “I’m a Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville,” and “Daydream Believer.” Lead singer Davy Jones passed away in 2012, followed by bassist Peter Tork in 2019. Dolenz and guitarist Michael Nesmith reunited for a farewell tour in 2021, just weeks before Nesmith’s death from heart failure.
Reflecting on his legacy, Dolenz told The Observer-Reporter in a recent interview, “So far, so good. I’m just glad to be above ground.”
Dolenz remains active in music and philanthropy, continuing to engage generations of Monkees fans while giving back through meaningful causes.
