Prime Video is set to unveil the first footage of its upcoming Italian original series Hotel Costiera at the prestigious Taormina Film Festival. Lead actor and executive producer Jesse Williams will be on hand to introduce the exclusive preview.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning Adam Bernstein (30 Rock, Fargo), the action-drama with comedic elements will be teased with a screening of a brief segment from the first episode. The event will take place at the historic open-air Greek amphitheater in Taormina, located beneath the towering Mt. Etna volcano in Sicily.
In Hotel Costiera, Williams, best known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, stars as Daniel De Luca, an Italian-American former Marine who now works as a problem solver at one of the world’s most exclusive hotels in Positano. De Luca, also known as DD, is drawn into a personal investigation when he becomes the only person to have glimpsed the kidnapper of his daughter. Throughout the series, DD tackles a different case in each episode.
The series also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Alejandra Onieva, and Jean-Hugues Anglade.
Hotel Costiera is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Luca Bernabei for Lux Vide, the Italian company known for global hits like Medici and Devils. Fremantle, which owns Lux Vide, is handling global sales for the series in all territories outside Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. The show will be available exclusively on Prime Video in English-speaking countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, later this year.
The 71st Taormina Film Festival will take place from June 10-14.
