Luca Guadagnino is in negotiations to direct Artificial, a new comedic drama in development at Amazon MGM Studios, set in the world of artificial intelligence.
Plot details for the film remain under wraps, but it is described as a comedic drama exploring AI themes. Simon Rich, who wrote the script, will also serve as a producer alongside David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films. Jennifer Fox is also in talks to produce.
The film marks another collaboration between Guadagnino and Amazon MGM Studios. He previously directed After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri, which is set to release in theaters on October 10. Guadagnino also directed Challengers, a film starring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor, which was released by the studio last year.
David Heyman, a seasoned producer, has extensive experience with Amazon MGM Studios. He is currently preparing to produce the next James Bond film, alongside Amy Pascal. Heyman’s notable credits include producing all eight Harry Potter films, the Fantastic Beasts trilogy, and films like Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity.
Heyman is also busy with multiple projects, including the upcoming Harry Potter television series, Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Klara and the Sun starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, and Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, which stars George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
