Rapper Rod Wave was arrested in Georgia this week on 14 criminal charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, and felony tampering with evidence, according to court records reviewed by Variety.
The artist, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody in Fulton County on Wednesday. He was later released on a $50,000 bond. The charges stem from an incident on April 21, when Green reportedly returned home to find a burglary in progress. A confrontation followed, during which a gun was fired 14 times, hitting several vehicles and a wall at the property.
In a statement to Variety, Green’s attorney Drew Findling denied the allegations. “There is no truth to these charges. Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favorably to Mr. Green,” he said.
This is not Green’s first legal issue. In April 2024, he was arrested in Florida for alleged possession of a firearm or ammunition. That arrest was linked to a suspected gang-related shooting that injured four people during a verbal altercation. Authorities reported that three men and one woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries in that incident.
In 2022, Green faced another arrest in Florida for battery by strangulation after being accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend in front of their two children. That charge was later dismissed, with his lawyer attributing the situation to a “misunderstanding.”
Rod Wave is best known for hits like “Tombstone” and “Street Runner.” He recently contributed the lead single to the film Sinners and released his sixth studio album, Last Lap, in October 2024.
