LOS ANGELES, June 3 — Jamie Foxx didn’t hold back when addressing the legal troubles surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs during a recent promotional appearance for his Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was. Speaking at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, the Oscar-winning actor and comedian referred to Diddy as a “nasty motherf—er” while reacting to the music mogul’s ongoing legal battle.
Diddy is currently facing federal charges that include racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face a life sentence.
“Diddy is crazy, huh?” Foxx asked the crowd, in a moment captured on video by Urban Hollywood. “I don’t know if he’s going to jail, but he’s a nasty motherf—er. Am I right? Especially for us… for Black people, that was our hero. All that goddamn baby oil. Why you so nasty, Diddy?”
Foxx reflected on Diddy’s influence, calling the scandal deeply disappointing to the Black community. “For the Black people here, you know how that hurts us,” he said, referencing the legacy of hits like It’s All About the Benjamins. “That was our whole culture. Now it’s all about the baby oil.”
This isn’t the first time Foxx has publicly addressed Diddy. In 2023, while recovering from a medical emergency, social media was rife with unfounded rumors suggesting Diddy had been involved. Foxx shut down the speculation in a recent Hollywood Reporter roundtable. “I saw things like, ‘Puffy tried to kill me.’ No, Puffy didn’t try to kill me,” he said. “When they said I was a clone, that made me flip. I’m sitting in the hospital bed, like, ‘These motherf—ers are trying to clone me.’”
Foxx opened up about the incident in What Had Happened Was, revealing for the first time that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. He said it began on April 11 when he experienced a severe headache and blacked out before he could take an aspirin. “I don’t remember 20 days,” Foxx said.
He was rushed to a doctor in Atlanta who initially misdiagnosed the issue. It was only later that a doctor informed his sister, Deidra Dixon, that Foxx had suffered a brain bleed and required immediate surgery. “My sister knelt down outside the operating room and prayed the whole time,” Foxx recalled.
What Had Happened Was is now streaming on Netflix.
