Brad Pitt will star in the upcoming film adaptation of Tim Winton’s novel The Riders, with Edward Berger, known for Conclave, set to direct. The film will be financed and distributed by A24, with production expected to begin in early 2026 across various European locations, reflecting the novel’s setting.
The story follows a man who moves to Ireland with his family and embarks on a search after his wife mysteriously disappears. David Kajganich is adapting the screenplay, with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, Berger’s Nine Hours, Pitt’s Plan B, and Kajganich producing the project.
Pitt’s upcoming roles include F1, a racing drama directed by Joseph Kosinski, and The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spinoff from Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, directed by David Fincher for Netflix, with Tarantino working on the script.
Berger is an Oscar-nominated director, known for Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front. Kajganich has worked with Luca Guadagnino on films like A Bigger Splash, The Terror, and Bones and All.
A24’s upcoming releases include Celine Song’s romantic comedy Materialists starring Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal, Dwayne Johnson’s sports drama Smashing Machine, and Josh Safdie’s adventure film Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet. Recent A24 releases include Opus, Death of a Unicorn, Warfare, and The Legend of Ochi, though not all have performed well at the box office.
