Mason Gooding is set to play the groom in Kevin Hart’s upcoming comedy, 72 Hours.
The “Scream” actor joins an ensemble cast in this Netflix film about a wild bachelor party in Miami. Gooding’s role was confirmed shortly after Variety reported that Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez will play the groom’s best man and bachelor party leader.
The movie centers on Hart’s character, a 40-something executive who accidentally gets added to a group text with a group of twenty-somethings. He then joins their chaotic Miami bachelor party.
72 Hours is directed by Tim Story, known for Barbershop and The Blackening. This film marks the fifth time Story has worked with Hart. Their previous collaborations include Think Like a Man and the Ride Along movies, all of which opened at number one at the box office and earned a combined $445 million worldwide.
The script is written by Matt Mider, Kevin Burrows, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg. Producers include John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment, along with Tim Story, Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, Counterbalance, and Will Packer Productions.
Filming is currently underway in Miami.
Gooding recently starred in Josh Ruben’s Valentine’s Day slasher Heart Eyes, alongside Olivia Holt, Jordana Brewster, and Devon Sawa. He also reprises his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in the seventh Scream film. This installment will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original Scream script in 1996. The new movie is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
In 2024, Gooding appeared in Kyle Mooney’s directorial debut, Y2K, with Rachel Zegler and Alicia Silverstone. His television credits include Love, Victor, Ballers, and The Good Doctor.
Mason Gooding is represented by CAA, Untitled, Narrative, and Sloane Offer.
