Irish rap trio Kneecap has sparked controversy following their performance at the 2025 Coachella Festival. During their set, the group displayed a “F–k Israel, Free Palestine” message and accused Israel of genocide in Gaza, further criticizing U.S. support for Israel. This led to accusations of antisemitism from various quarters, including survivors of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on the Nova music festival, who condemned the remarks as hateful and divisive. Watchdog groups such as Creative Community for Peace and StopAntisemitism criticized Coachella’s organizers for providing a platform to Kneecap despite prior warnings.
In response to the backlash, Sharon Osbourne has called on U.S. authorities to revoke the work visas of Kneecap’s members. She accused the band of hate speech and supporting terrorism, asserting that such political activism has no place in musical performances. Fox News commentators echoed her criticism, likening the band’s rhetoric to Nazi propaganda. Kneecap responded defiantly, highlighting widespread fan support and noting that their U.S. tour in October is nearly sold out.
The controversy underscores the broader tensions around artistic activism, censorship, and the global discourse on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
