Kygo’s sold-out concert at the Hollywood Bowl is coming to theaters worldwide in summer 2025. The concert movie, titled “Kygo: Back at the Bowl,” will be distributed by CJ 4DPlex.
The film captures a live performance from Kygo’s 2024-2025 World Tour. It is directed by Sam Wrench, a Grammy-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker known for projects like “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and “Billie Eilish Live at the O2.”
“This film allows the audience to experience the performance like never before,” said Wrench. “It feels like being inside the Hollywood Bowl, interacting with the music and artists in a new way. It changes how music and film come together.”
The film features remixed and remastered sound, with visuals shot in 8K using 18 cameras. It also includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, giving fans a closer look at Kygo’s performance and creative process.
Designed with ScreenX technology in mind, the movie offers a 270-degree panoramic view. This immersive format makes viewers feel like they are in the front row. The film will also be shown in 4DX, a multisensory experience, as well as standard 2D screenings globally.
“We are excited to partner with Kygo to bring his performance to fans worldwide,” said Jun Bang, CEO of CJ 4DPlex. “Together with Palm Tree Pictures and Next of Kin, we created a stunning concert film for ScreenX, also available in 4DX and 2D.”
The Hollywood Bowl concert was a major stop on Kygo’s tour, which sold over 500,000 tickets. The show features performances of his biggest hits, including “Higher Love” and “It Ain’t Me.” Special guest artists joined Kygo on stage:
- Ryan Tedder performed their song “Chasing Paradise” live for the first time.
- Ava Max joined Kygo to perform “Whatever” from his new album.
- Zara Larsson performed “Like It Is.”
- Other guest artists included Calum Scott, Justin Jesso, and Parson James.
The film is a collaboration between Next of Kin Content, an EverWonder Studio company, CJ 4DPlex, and Palm Tree Pictures, founded by Kygo and his longtime manager Myles Shear.
Executive producers include Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll (Kygo), Myles Shear, Mike Hoerner, and Sarah Lieberman for Palm Tree Pictures. Mike Antinoro represents Next of Kin, while Don Savant, Jun Bang, Greg Drobnick, and Paul Hyo Kim represent CJ 4DPlex.
“Dance music has always led the way in culture and innovation,” said Shear. “We are thrilled to use cutting-edge technology to make fans feel like they are right there at the Hollywood Bowl watching Kygo perform.”
ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection cinema technology. It offers a 270-degree panoramic view by extending scenes onto the side walls of the auditorium. Currently, there are over 370 ScreenX auditoriums in 40 countries.
4DX enhances movies with motion, vibration, wind, lighting, scents, and other effects. Each 4DX auditorium features motion-based seats synchronized with more than 21 special effects. Over 790 4DX auditoriums operate in more than 70 countries.
