Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has announced her next studio album, Man’s Best Friend, will be released on August 29. The news came during a surprise Instagram Live on Wednesday morning, where Carpenter flipped through vinyl records by Donna Summer, ABBA, and Dolly Parton before revealing the cover of her own new project.
The album artwork shows Carpenter on all fours, with a hand gripping her hair—an image that quickly sparked conversation online.
The first single from the album, “Manchild,” was released last week. Co-written by Carpenter, Jack Antonoff, and Amy Allen, the track immediately soared to No. 1 on both Spotify U.S. and Global charts. Its release was accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia.
Man’s Best Friend marks Carpenter’s seventh studio album, arriving almost exactly one year after the massive success of her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet. That album spawned three hit singles—“Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste”—all of which entered Spotify’s Billions Club. Short n’ Sweet sold over 10 million copies worldwide and earned Carpenter six Grammy nominations, including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso,” both of which she won.
Carpenter will also return to the stage this fall for a second North American leg of her sold-out “Short n’ Sweet” tour. The new run begins October 23 in Pittsburgh and will include major stops in New York, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles. Highlights include five nights at Madison Square Garden and six shows at Crypto.com Arena, where the tour wraps on November 23.
With Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter looks set to build on her breakout year and solidify her status as one of pop music’s most dynamic voices.
