James Murray, known to fans as Murr from TBS’s hit comedy show “Impractical Jokers,” will host the 25th Annual Golden Trailer Awards. The event will take place on Thursday, May 29, at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
The Golden Trailer Awards honor marketing teams behind movie trailers, posters, and commercials from around the world. This major event is attended by film industry professionals, creative agencies, media members, and celebrities.
Murray is a comedian, producer, and writer. Before gaining fame on “Impractical Jokers,” he worked for nearly ten years as senior vice president of development at NorthSouth Productions. He now owns Impractical Studios and is also an international bestselling author. His books include the sci-fi horror trilogy “Awakened,” suspense thrillers like “You Better Watch Out,” “Don’t Move,” and “The Stowaway,” and the middle-grade series “Area 51 Interns.” His horror film “Don’t Move” will hit theaters soon.
“Murr’s comedy is a perfect match for the most fun awards ceremony on the calendar,” said Evelyn Brady, executive director of the Golden Trailer Awards. “His show flips the hidden-camera genre by putting him and his friends in hilarious, awkward moments with strangers. He’ll keep the energy high and the mood fun.”
Murray will be joined on stage by several rising stars in comedy:
- Chanel Ali – Host of Food Network’s digital series “Food Debate!” and one of Deadline’s 15 Comedians to Watch in 2025.
- Nico Carney – A Brooklyn-based stand-up, actor, and writer who shares stories of growing up as a trans man in Savannah, Georgia.
- Dina Hashem – A writer for The Daily Show with credits on “Sex Lives of College Girls,” BJ Novak’s “The Premise,” and Ramy Youssef’s “#1 Happy Family.”
- Chloe Radcliffe – A New York stand-up comic and writer recently seen in Bradley Cooper’s “Is This Thing On?” and known for her solo show “Cheat.”
- Becky Robinson – Known for her viral character “Entitled Housewife,” who stars in fan events and original songs like “Mama Needs a Claw.”
“These presenters show the wide range of new talent in comedy,” said Monica Brady, the show’s executive producer. “Paired with Murr, they’ll help keep the show exciting and fresh.”
The Golden Trailer Awards are presented in 114 categories. The show usually sells out and attracts more than 1,000 attendees, including top studio marketing executives and trailer editors.
Last year, creative agency MOCEAN took home the Best of Show award for the Disney/Marvel teaser “Deadpool & Wolverine: Taken.” Disney won the most awards with 19, followed by Netflix with 17. AV Squad was named Agency of the Year.
