Charli XCX has finally released the official video for her fan-favorite track “Party 4 U,” five years after the song first dropped as part of her 2020 pandemic-era album How I’m Feeling Now. The release comes as the song finds new life on social media, becoming a viral sensation on TikTok.
Originally released in May 2020, How I’m Feeling Now was created in just five weeks during COVID-19 lockdowns. The project was an open collaboration with fans and was praised for its raw, experimental nature. Although the album peaked at No. 111 on the Billboard 200 at the time, “Party 4 U” has recently surged in popularity, entering the Billboard Hot 100 and climbing to No. 55.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Charli reflected on the journey of the song and the album. “It honestly just feels like yesterday,” she wrote. “So much has changed since then. Me, my life, elements of my music and most definitely the world.” She went on to say, “I made the album in just 5 weeks, from conception to release, entirely publicly in collaboration with all of you. It was so special. I felt like I rediscovered myself, my sanity + my sense of connection with the world, at a time where we were all so alone.”
Charli added that the video release was a celebration of the album’s fifth anniversary and a tribute to her fans. “It was all of us at our most raw, our most stripped, our most vulnerable. I will never forget it… This one’s for you angels. Love, Charli.”
The video drop comes during a pivotal time in Charli XCX’s career. Her latest album Brat has become one of 2024’s most talked-about releases, earning critical acclaim and commercial success. The project was followed by a remix album featuring high-profile collaborations with Lorde and Billie Eilish.
Charli is currently on tour supporting Brat, with plans to bring her live show to European audiences in the coming months.
