Luke Evans will star alongside Noomi Rapace in “Traction,” a new action-thriller set in war-ravaged Chechnya. The film is being produced by Elizabeth Bay Productions and will be written and directed by Lorraine Darrow, known for her work on “Pas Sages.”
Rapace plays Kate, a former U.S. soldier leading a humanitarian mission through Chechnya. She is joined by her trusted ally Magomed. Their journey takes a dangerous turn when they take in a young rebel named Larissa and her mysterious package. The story follows the group as they join forces with a cynical American war photographer, played by Evans, a local schoolteacher, and an injured student. Together, they must cross hostile territory while avoiding Russian troops and guerrilla fighters.
This marks the second time Rapace and Evans have worked together. They previously co-starred in the 2019 drama “Angel of Mine.”
Evans is known for his roles in “Beauty and the Beast,” “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Criminal,” and “Weekend in Taipei.” Rapace is recognized for her performances in “Prometheus,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”
The film is being produced by Janette Day, Dennis Davidson, and Simon Moseley of CrossDay Productions. WestEnd Films is handling worldwide sales. Filming for “Traction” is scheduled to begin this August in Spain.
WestEnd Films is based in London and specializes in production, financing, and international sales.
