After more than six decades of electrifying performances, legendary rock band The Who has announced their “bittersweet final tour” of the U.S. and Canada. Titled The Song Is Over, the tour marks the end of an era for the band, which includes members Pete Townshend, 79, and Roger Daltrey, 81. Their farewell tour is set to be a grand finale to their iconic career.
While the announcement did not directly mention longtime drummer Zak Starkey, it’s expected that he will join the band for this final run, despite being briefly fired earlier in the year.
Roger Daltrey reflected on the band’s long connection to American audiences: “Every musician’s dream in the early ‘60s was to make it big in the US charts. For The Who, that dream came true in 1967, and our lives were changed forever. The warmth of American audiences has always been inspirational. America has always been the land of the possible, and it’s not easy to end such a big part of my life.”
Pete Townshend echoed Daltrey’s sentiments, stating, “Playing to American and Canadian audiences has always been incredible. From the days when hippies listened deeply to our music, to today, Roger and I carry the banner for Keith Moon and John Entwistle, and all our loyal fans. This tour will be about fond memories, love, and laughter. We hope to share that joy with new fans too.”
The Song Is Over tour will offer a variety of VIP packages, including premium tickets, access to pre-show soundchecks, and a limited-edition autographed tour poster.
Ticket sales will begin with a Citi presale and Who Fan Club access on Tuesday, May 13, followed by general sales starting Friday, May 16 at 10:00 AM local time. Citi cardmembers can access presale tickets in the U.S. from May 13 at 10:00 AM until May 15 at 10:00 PM.
