Pop star Justin Bieber shared candid thoughts on Instagram about feeling exhausted by “transactional relationships” and the pressure to meet others’ expectations.
On June 8, the 31-year-old singer and father posted black-and-white selfies with the caption: “If I have to do something to be loved, that’s not love.” This followed a series of posts focused on forgiveness and embracing flaws.
In his Instagram Stories, Bieber expressed frustration over being told to “work harder” despite giving his all. He wrote, “I don’t think any of us can handle hearing, ‘You just gotta try a little harder and you will be like me.’ It’s not true.”
He reflected on how constantly trying to earn one’s place can be endless. “You have everything you need right now,” he said, urging followers to stop the pressure to “work harder” as a measure of worth.
Bieber emphasized that life is about faith and love, not just work. “This life is about God. Loving us so we can love each other,” he wrote. He cautioned against “conditioning” that makes people doubt what they already know and encouraged letting go of the need to try harder.
“Jesus was always the answer to pain we are all facing,” Bieber said. He urged fans to focus less on self-improvement for approval and more on caring for others by releasing the pressure to constantly push harder.
Alongside his reflections, Bieber shared a warm photo video chatting with his wife Hailey Bieber, captioned, “that’s a man who LOVES his wife.” The couple’s 9-month-old son, Jack, has inspired Bieber’s recent posts about fatherhood. In May, he posted sweet moments with Jack, saying, “Gonna be a good summer.”
