For the first time, the popular anime franchise Naruto is coming to Indian cinemas. Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow will be released in theaters nationwide, with the official trailer now launched.
Reliance Entertainment is distributing the film in partnership with TV Tokyo and Happening 365 Synergies. This marks a major step for anime in India, as the film will screen in three languages — Japanese, English, and Hindi — to reach a wide audience across different regions.
The move highlights India’s growing role in the global anime market. It also reflects TV Tokyo’s broader strategy to expand internationally, with India as one of its key focus territories.
“We are proud to launch this special cinematic journey for Indian audiences,” said Hiroaki Saiki, head of global distribution at TV Tokyo. “This is the first of 11 Naruto movies to be released in India, and we hope fans will experience them all.”
Saiki added, “This is a major milestone in our global strategy. We are excited to bring the Naruto legacy to the big screen in one of our fastest-growing international markets.”
Tejonidhi Bhandare, CEO of Reliance Animation, shared plans to grow the franchise’s reach through youth engagement. “We are launching outreach programs in schools and colleges across India,” he said. “These efforts will help create a new generation of anime fans and make Naruto a cultural phenomenon for young Indian audiences.”
Bhandare also noted that Naruto has inspired Reliance Animation’s own content development.
Anuron and Kalpita of Happening 365 Synergies, both former Disney executives, emphasized anime’s long-standing appeal in India. “Anime has been close to the hearts of Indian viewers, especially kids and millennials, for more than 20 years,” they said. “Bringing Naruto to theaters is a major step forward. The story’s themes of friendship, loyalty, and perseverance connect deeply with Indian audiences.”
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow is set to release on June 27 in over 200 cinemas across the country.
Dhruv Sinha, head of international business and syndication at Reliance Entertainment, said, “Naruto has a large and loyal fanbase in India. With a release on more than 200 screens, we are celebrating that fandom and showing our commitment to bringing global content to Indian theaters at scale.”
This release is part of Reliance Entertainment’s wider strategy to adapt global intellectual property for the Indian market. The company has produced and distributed over 400 films worldwide, earning more than $1 billion. It also operates in animation and gaming, helping to expand and monetize film IP across platforms.
The theatrical debut of Naruto could open doors for more anime releases in India. With strong fan support and a multi-language rollout, this launch may set the stage for future Japanese content to thrive in Indian cinemas.
