DENVER — Downtown Denver’s newly revitalized 16th Street corridor is set to come alive this Memorial Day with a sold-out block party headlined by internationally acclaimed DJ and producer FISHER. The outdoor event at 16th and Welton marks the corridor’s first major music celebration since undergoing a multi-million dollar transformation aimed at reinvigorating the downtown area.
More than 5,000 attendees are expected at the high-energy show, which also features house duo Sidepiece, Australian producer Odd Mob, and DJ Lauren Lane. The event is a joint effort between AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, the Downtown Denver Partnership, and the City of Denver to reintroduce 16th Street as a premier destination for culture and entertainment.
“Events like these redefine what it means to experience 16th Street,” said Britt Diehl of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “We want this to be people’s first impression of the new downtown — a vibrant, safe, and welcoming space.”
Security, logistics, and operations are top priorities, with event partners ensuring smooth entry and safety measures across the site.
For local business owners, the event represents more than just music. Violeta Gavrilovich, who recently opened Aloha Hats after relocating from Maui, sees it as a chance to connect with the community. “Music brings people together. This is a big opportunity,” she said. “When people come back, they’ll find new shops like ours and get a real feel for Denver’s flavor.”
The city hopes this concert will inspire more live events along the corridor in the future. “Wouldn’t it be great if 16th Street became one of those iconic venues where artists from around the world want to perform?” said Diehl. “We think this space is the perfect downtown backdrop.”
Attendees are encouraged to use ride-share or public transit. Downtown parking is free on Memorial Day, and gates open at 5 p.m., with entrances at 16th and California and 16th and Glenarm.
The celebration doesn’t end Monday. The 16th Street Summer Kickoff continues with more events and concerts starting Saturday, May 31.
