The film, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, had its world premiere at Cannes on Saturday evening. It received a six-minute standing ovation from the audience.
A Powerful Story of Motherhood and Madness
Die My Love is adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s 2017 novel of the same name. The story follows a woman suffering from postpartum psychosis after giving birth. Ramsay’s version is set in rural America and features Lawrence as the new mother overwhelmed by intense love and psychological turmoil. Pattinson plays her husband, who is unaware of her condition.
This marks Ramsay’s return to Cannes after her 2017 film You Were Never Really Here, which starred Joaquin Phoenix and won the Best Screenplay award.
Lawrence Reflects on Postpartum Experience
At the film’s press conference on Sunday, Lawrence spoke about how the role resonated with her personally. “I had just had my firstborn, and there’s not really anything like postpartum,” she said. “It’s extremely isolating. Extreme anxiety and depression can make you feel like an alien, no matter where you are.”

The producers include Justine Ciarrocchi, Jennifer Lawrence, Martin Scorsese, Andrea Calderwood, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill.
