John Moreland has no regrets after his collaboration with Zach Bryan was removed from streaming versions of Bryan’s latest album, The Great American Bar Scene, following a public spat between the two artists.
In a series of Instagram videos, Moreland calls Bryan a “dickhead” and says, “I don’t like that person,” standing by his decision to criticize the country-rock star. He expressed that being removed from Bryan’s album was, in his words, “way fucking cooler” than being on it. Moreland recounted their initial meeting and described Bryan as rude to his wife and friends, adding that Bryan had made inappropriate comments and exhibited questionable behavior in social situations. He reiterated, “I don’t like that person.”
The feud began when Moreland, responding to reports about Bryan’s $350M deal with Warner Records, posted a message criticizing Bryan as an “off-brand version” of himself. Bryan, surprised by the jab, responded by removing Moreland’s vocals from the album and posted on Instagram saying he didn’t want anyone with a problem with him on his records. He clarified that while the track “Memphis the Blues” would be removed from streaming, the song would eventually be re-released without Moreland’s contributions.
Despite the drama, Moreland’s stance remains firm, with the singer-songwriter not backing down on his comments and continuing to criticize Bryan’s behavior.
