The political documentary White With Fear, directed by Emmy Award-winning journalist Andrew Goldberg, will be released on-demand on June 3, according to exclusive information obtained by Variety.
The film features interviews with prominent figures including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, and ex-Fox News reporter Carl Cameron. It examines how some conservative political figures have, over decades, used strategies designed to deepen racial divisions and promote white victimhood narratives for political and financial gain.
According to the official synopsis, the documentary highlights how these tactics have harmed immigrant communities and fueled Islamophobia both in the United States and abroad.
Other notable voices featured include Rick Gates, former Trump campaign strategist; Stuart Stevens, co-founder of The Lincoln Project; Jean Guerrero, New York Times opinion writer; Ian Haney López, author of Dog Whistle Politics; and Tim Miller, former communications director for Jeb Bush’s campaign.
White With Fear follows the tradition of investigative documentaries like Inside Job and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, using firsthand interviews and archival footage to expose systemic issues.
The film is produced and edited by Diana Robinson, with Eric Ward serving as co-producer. Archival production was led by Natalie Shmuel, Jessica Dankers, and Ray Segal.
Distribution is being handled by Area 23A, which recently released the documentary Common Ground featuring Laura Dern, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Jason Momoa. Other Area 23A titles include Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, There Is Another Way, Music for Mushrooms, and Anxious Nation.
