In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Travis Kelce shared his excitement about working with comedy icon Adam Sandler. Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, will appear alongside Sandler in the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2, which is set to release in 2025. While his role in the film remains a mystery, a teaser clip suggests that Kelce will play a country club employee.
Kelce described the experience as a “dream come true,” adding, “I thought ‘SNL’ would be the peak of my acting career. But working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman, and Happy Productions – it was incredible.”
Although Kelce’s role is not central, he revealed that he has “a few” scenes in the movie. He also noted that filming for Happy Gilmore 2 was a significant amount of work. “They’re so professional yet so fun to work with,” Kelce said. “It felt like working with Andy Reid from the Chiefs in the acting world. Sandler is just as cool off-screen as he is on-screen. It was an amazing experience.”
Happy Gilmore 2 will also feature Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson.
While details about the sequel’s plot are still under wraps, the original Happy Gilmore followed a fiery hockey player who turns to professional golf to save his grandmother’s home. Released in 1996, the film grossed $41 million worldwide against a $12 million budget, directed by Dennis Dugan.
