Frank Zappa’s 1974 television special, Cheaper Than Cheep, which has remained unreleased for over five decades, is finally set to be made available to the public. The concert, filmed on June 18, 1974, at DiscReet Rehearsal Studio in Los Angeles, was intended for broadcast but was shelved due to technical issues, including audio and video synchronization problems. The footage was never edited or released until now.
The upcoming release will be available in multiple formats, including a Super Deluxe edition featuring two CDs, three LPs, and a Blu-ray disc with Dolby Atmos audio. The Blu-ray will include the full concert, a blooper reel, and an excerpt from the Claymation film The Amazing Mr. Bickford. Additionally, a 12-page booklet with previously unseen photos and liner notes by Vaultmeister Joe Travers will accompany the set.
