Johnny Depp has undergone a noticeable dental transformation, which his fans believe has addressed previous concerns about his “rotting” teeth.
A video clip, filmed by a bartender from Lorraine’s Café in Exuma, Bahamas, shows the 61-year-old actor smiling and mingling with patrons while on holiday. Depp even joined the bartender behind the bar to mix drinks. Fans were quick to point out the striking difference in his appearance, particularly his teeth, which now seem to be a bright new set of veneers.
The actor’s dental hygiene had sparked debate earlier this year during his appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Jeanne du Barry. At the time, many fans voiced their concerns over his teeth, with some describing them as “rotting” and others urging him to seek dental care.
Following the release of this new footage, fans took to social media to share their excitement over Depp’s apparent dental work. One user commented, “He looks so happy! And healthy and LOOK he got his teeth fixed!!!!!” Another added, “Johnny Depp has new teeth!” while others expressed similar sentiments, with one fan noting, “The pirate teeth are gone … pearly whites look beautiful.”

Depp’s teeth have been a topic of discussion for years, particularly due to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. The actor previously admitted to having an unfinished root canal that left him with a “rotten little stub” of a tooth. In a 1990s interview with Premiere magazine, Depp expressed his disdain for overly perfect teeth, stating, “When I see people with perfect teeth, it drives me up the wall. I’d rather swallow a tick than have that!”
The clip shared by the bartender, which was captioned “jacksparrow meets the killerbartender of exuma bahamas … once in a lifetime moments with mr johnny Depp,” also shows Depp acknowledging a painting of his iconic Pirates of the Caribbean character.
Depp has previously spoken about his creative decisions regarding Jack Sparrow’s look, particularly his teeth. He once revealed that Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney executives were hesitant about his choice to give the character gold teeth. “Jerry was slightly uncomfortable, and the Disney executives weren’t exactly enthusiastic about it,” Depp recalled. “I said, ‘Look, these are the choices I made. You know my work. So either trust me or give me the boot.’ And luckily, they didn’t.”
It appears that Depp has now opted for a more polished look, with fans eagerly embracing his new smile.
