Robert Irwin, the son of late Australian wildlife educator and environmentalist Steve Irwin, has been appointed as a Global Ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize. This move strengthens Irwin’s partnership with the royal in their joint effort to address pressing environmental issues.
Irwin, a 20-year-old TV personality, has been a strong supporter of the Earthshot Prize since its inception. He attended the event in Singapore last year and is now one of the first Earthshot Global Ambassadors, working alongside humanitarian and actor Nomzamo Mbatha of South Africa to further the prize’s objectives.
Inspired by his late father’s legacy, Irwin, along with his 26-year-old sister Bindi and the entire family, enthusiastically support their animal conservation organization, Wildlife Warriors, and strive to protect threatened species through Australia Zoo.
The Earthshot Prize aims to recognize groundbreaking concepts and innovations that have the potential to heal the planet. It awards prizes to companies, leaders, and innovators in five key areas: Building a Waste-Free World, Cleaning Our Air, Protecting and Restoring Nature, and Fixing Our Climate.

For those of us concerned with the environment and our capacity to secure a livable future for present and future generations, the Earthshot Prize offers a glimmer of hope.”
Robert Irwin is described as a passionate wildlife photographer, television host, and conservationist on the Earthshot Prize website. He has been deeply involved in numerous projects aimed at preserving natural habitats and protecting endangered species.
The Earthshot Prize ceremony will take place in November 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa. Organizations or individuals with innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing problems will receive a prize of $1.3 million, along with support to expand their concepts.
