Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour on Thursday, becoming the first official guest performer of the tour. The two stars performed their Grammy-winning duet II Most Wanted live for the first time at Paris’ Stade de France.
Earlier in the day, rumors spread that Cyrus had been spotted at soundcheck with Beyoncé. Cyrus was already in Paris to perform at Spotify’s Billions Club Live. During the show, she joined Beyoncé on stage late in the set to deliver their first live performance of the hit song.
II Most Wanted appears on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album, which was released in March 2024. The track, the third single from the album, went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
Cyrus revealed that she had written the song about two and a half years before it became part of Beyoncé’s album. Speaking to W magazine, she said, “When Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship. I told her, ‘We don’t have to get country; we are country. We’ve been country.’ I said, ‘You know, between you being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song.’ Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true.”
Beyoncé is now over halfway through her Cowboy Carter world tour. The tour has already stopped in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, New Jersey, and London. After finishing in Paris on June 22, Beyoncé will return to the United States, with shows in Houston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Las Vegas. The tour is set to conclude on July 26.
