Yellow Veil Pictures has acquired worldwide sales rights to Mother of Flies, the latest supernatural horror film from the family filmmaking trio John Adams, Toby Poser, and their daughter Zelda Adams.
The film follows a young woman who, after receiving a deadly medical diagnosis, turns to dark magic for a cure. However, her decision comes with grave consequences. The official logline warns: “When a young woman faces a deadly diagnosis, she seeks dark magic from a witch in the woods. But every cure has its cost.”
Mother of Flies is directed by John Adams, Toby Poser, and Zelda Adams, who also star in the film alongside Lulu Adams. Poser serves as producer. Yellow Veil Pictures plans to showcase the first footage to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival in the coming days.
The Adams Family has built a reputation in the indie horror scene with films like The Deeper You Dig, Where the Devil Roams, and Hellbender. Their 2021 breakout hit Hellbender was acquired by horror streaming platform Shudder before premiering at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
In addition to their collaborations as a trio, John Adams and Toby Poser have directed several projects together, including Knuckle Jack, The Shoot, Halfway to Zen, and Hell Hole.
Describing the new project, Yellow Veil Pictures co-founder Joe Yanick said, “Mother of Flies feels like a spiritual sequel to Hellbender, showcasing the family at their best: mining their own personal histories to create something beautifully morbid.”
Founded in 2018 by Hugues Barbier, Justin Timms, and Joe Yanick, Yellow Veil Pictures is a bicoastal distribution company that focuses on independent and art house cinema. Their growing catalog includes titles such as Dead Lover, Rats!, Dream Team, The Other Laurens, Riddle of Fire, and Once Upon a Time in Uganda.
