Tom Cruise, known for starring in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, is set to receive the prestigious BFI Fellowship, an honor awarded by the British Film Institute to outstanding actors and producers. While Cruise’s status as a major movie star is well-established, his “Valkyrie” co-star, Kenneth Branagh, believes the actor’s talent is often underestimated.
In an interview with The Times of London, Branagh emphasized that Cruise’s contributions to film go beyond the action-packed roles in Mission Impossible and Top Gun. Branagh argued that Cruise’s work is not only unique in cinematic entertainment but also shows a serious commitment to delivering great movie experiences. “If he ever tires of wowing the world with action, he’s going to surprise those who view him as only a movie star,” Branagh said. “He’s an underestimated actor, and a golden age of performance awaits him.”
Branagh also praised Cruise’s rapport with British locals, noting that the actor has spent significant time filming in the UK. He described Cruise as a gracious and humble presence, always engaging with fans and enjoying his work. “He’s a natural giggler and just enjoys what he does so much, and that’s infectious,” Branagh added.
Cruise expressed his gratitude upon hearing about the BFI Fellowship, stating, “I’m truly honoured. I’ve been making films in the UK for over 40 years and have no plans to stop.”
