Lorde is heading back on the road with the announcement of her Ultrasound international tour, set to span North America, the U.K., and Europe later this year. The tour supports her upcoming fourth studio album, Virgin, which is slated for release on June 27.
The Ultrasound tour kicks off September 17 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, and includes major arena stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The North American leg will conclude on October 22 in Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena, after which the singer will head to Europe, with shows scheduled in France, Germany, Denmark, and a final performance at Annexet in Stockholm on December 9.
Lorde will be joined by a rotating cast of special guests throughout the tour, including Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou, depending on the date and location.
The tour follows the announcement of Virgin, an album Lorde has described as “100% written in blood.” The record features collaborations with Dan Nigro, Blood Orange, Fabiana Palladino, Jim-E Stack, Andrew Aged, and Buddy Ross. The project’s lead single, “What Was That,” debuted during a fan event at Washington Square Park in New York City on April 23, where Lorde also shot parts of its music video live.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Lorde opened up about the creative inspirations behind Virgin, citing Charli XCX’s Brat as a key influence. “We were quite a way into it at that point,” she said of the album’s development. “But Brat coming out really gave me a kick in a lot of ways. It forced me to further define what I was doing… it’s just this amazing thing when a peer throws the gauntlet down like that.”
A full list of tour dates, cities, and support acts is expected to be released soon. Tickets and VIP packages will be available through official ticketing platforms, with more details to follow.
