Valerie Bertinelli’s boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, has sparked speculation about their relationship status after unfollowing the actress on Instagram and posting ambiguous quotes that suggest trouble.
On November 2, Mike, 53, shared a quote on his Instagram Stories that read, “If you can go a whole day without talking to me, then go another.” He followed this with another message stating, “If someone is fine without you, then let them be fine without you.”
The next day, Mike addressed the situation further on Instagram. He clarified that his posts are not meant to reflect his personal life in real-time. “Y’all, for real, the things I post aren’t real-time coded subtweets of my own life,” he wrote. “I post things for all kinds of reasons.
Sometimes they resonate with me because they relate to recent experiences or thoughts. However, my intention is not to send secret messages about my life.”
He explained that his posts are influenced by what Instagram’s algorithm shows him and urged followers not to read too much into them. “Any narrowness in what I post is a result of the algorithm, not me looking for that specific kind of thing,” he added.
Mike Goodnough did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
These posts come just a week and a half after Mike expressed his admiration for Valerie in a blog post about attending the 2024 Daytime Emmys with her. On October 23, he wrote about wanting Valerie to have a moment to be proud of herself. He described her happiness and shared a TikTok video that captured their joyful moments together.
Earlier this year, Valerie, 64, revealed her new relationship with Mike on April 1 but kept his identity private at first. Mike later confirmed their relationship in April, calling it surreal yet fulfilling. He expressed his gratitude for being with Valerie and described their bond as a gift.
In June, Valerie shared a rare photo of Mike on Instagram and discussed the challenges of trusting again after past relationships. She noted that learning to trust again is difficult but emphasized that Mike is worth fighting for due to his kindness and thoughtfulness.
As speculation grows around their relationship status following Mike’s recent posts, fans remain hopeful for the couple’s future together.
