Sinitta has recently addressed and clarified comments that sparked rumors about Simon Cowell’s marital status with his fiancée, Lauren Silverman.
Simon, 64, proposed to Lauren, 47, in 2021. The couple has been together since 2012 and share a 10-year-old son, Eric.
Although Simon has been private about his wedding plans, Sinitta, a long-time friend, made a comment in an interview that led to speculation that the couple might have already tied the knot. When asked by Woman magazine if Simon and Lauren had set a wedding date, Sinitta playfully responded, “Oh, are they not married yet?”
The interviewer then asked if the couple had possibly married in secret. Sinitta replied, “I’m not saying anything, but I’m sure they are married. I call her Mrs. Cowell anyway, so they may as well be.”
Following the interview, Sinitta issued a statement to clarify her remarks, emphasizing that her intention was not to confirm any secret marriage. She explained, “Apologies to everyone, I would like to clarify a comment I made in response to a question about when Lauren and Simon might tie the knot. When asked, I playfully responded by pretending to be confused and joked, ‘Wait, aren’t they already married? I’m pretty sure they are?’ My intention was to deflect the question with humor, not to suggest that they had secretly married.”
Sinitta further stated, “To be clear, if they had married in private and I were aware of it, I would respect their privacy and not disclose such information. I kindly ask that in future conversations, you refrain from asking me about their wedding plans or potential future children, as I genuinely do not have any information on these topics. I enjoy engaging in light-hearted conversations, but this particular comment has unintentionally led to misinformation. I appreciate your understanding.”
Representatives for Simon have not provided any additional comments on the matter.
Simon Cowell’s Role in Lucy Spraggan’s Wedding.
In other news, Simon recently played an important role in the wedding of X Factor star Lucy Spraggan. He walked Lucy down the aisle as she married her wife, Emilia.
Speaking to HELLO!, Simon expressed his feelings about the honor, saying, “Being asked to walk her down the aisle made me realize the significance and importance of that role. And throughout the day, I was thinking even though it’s been a relatively short time, we do feel like family. And we share a very special bond.”
Lucy also shared her emotions from the day, adding, “Simon and I were standing outside the door and my song started playing. I was already crying, and Simon definitely had a tear in his eye. I was linking arms with him but then I realized I was holding on to his arm. He kept saying, ‘You’re OK, you’re all right.’ Then when Emilia walked in with her dad I just sobbed.”
Simon and Lauren reportedly got engaged in 2021 while on a trip to Barbados. They welcomed their son Eric in 2014.
