Nicholas Galitzine announced on Instagram Sunday that production for the live-action film Masters of the Universe has officially wrapped. The movie is an adaptation of the 1983 animated series and is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films.
In his post, Galitzine said, “Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe.” He added that playing Adam and He-Man was “the role of a lifetime” and that he gave the role his all. “It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility,” he wrote. Although he couldn’t share many details, he expressed pride in the final movie and thanked the cast and crew for their hard work.
The film’s cast includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto.
Bumblebee director Travis Knight is directing the film. The script is by Chris Butler, who took over after initial drafts by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee. Producers include Robbie Brenner from Mattel Films, along with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch from Escape Artists. The movie is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
In a recent interview with Variety, Jóhannesson spoke about Galitzine’s physical preparation for the role. “I was with him in London last week,” he said. “We were doing fittings and filming was about to start. He looks like a beast. He’s not showing you everything. We were in the gym, and we weren’t wearing much.”
