Sharon Osbourne has disclosed that she is unable to find employment in the U.S. due to perceptions of racism.
The former “The Talk” host, who left the show in March 2021 after defending Piers Morgan’s remarks about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, spoke about her situation on “Celebrity Big Brother.”
“I got banned in America,” Osbourne told Louis Walsh on the show. When asked if she was still legally allowed to work in the U.S., she responded, “I can legally. But nobody will employ me because they say I am racist.”
Osbourne’s difficulties began after Piers Morgan faced accusations of racism following his critique of Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. Morgan received 41,000 complaints related to his comments.
Osbourne publicly supported Morgan via Twitter, writing, “I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”
Her support led to a heated confrontation on “The Talk” with co-host Sheryl Underwood, who accused Osbourne of endorsing racist views. The argument escalated, and Osbourne issued a public apology, expressing regret to “anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said.”
The controversy resulted in a hiatus for “The Talk,” and Osbourne was subsequently terminated from the show.
